Zbrush _logo _2As with any graphics tools, it's difficult to describe the effects you can achieve without visual evidence (a picture, 1000 words etc). So Pixologic has put together a series of ZBrush 4R2 movie tutorials that explain how the new and enhanced features will benefit your workflow from the early concept through to the finished stage.

The major update in ZBrush 4R2 is DynaMesh. This new base mesh generator lets you take a sphere and easily sculpt it with your mouse into a finished character with no uneven geometry. You can then create a vast library of objects like noses and ears, add add them to your new model with the Mesh Insert brushes, taking out the painstaking process of modelling a number of uniform characters.

It's now also easier to create your own custom lighting environment with the LightCap Designer's stunning HDRI lighting rigs, and the Best Preview Render has also been given a welsome boost. All these features and more can be seen in action in Pixologic's 5-8 minute tutorial videos, and they add new ones weekly to the ZBrush 4R2 ZClassroom. Current topics include:

  • LightCap.
  • Introducing DynaMesh.
  • Shader and Material Blend.
  • Wax Preview.
  • Curve Tri-Fill-Brush.
  • BPR Filters.
  • Slice Curve Brush.
  • Curve Surface Brush.
